Most of the talented people working in your field don’t work for you. You work with some amazing folks but there are amazing folks in lots of places.
You’ve got some amazing technologies under development. Your competitors do too. Not only that, but there are people out there working on things that solve your customer’s problems in completely different ways. You probably don’t even see them as competitors.
How are you going to keep track of this? You need a way to look over the horizon. You need to find technologies that can help accelerate your penetration in existing markets. How about those that will allow you to expand into desirable adjacent markets? And we shouldn’t neglect those that might lead to true market disrtuption.
By the way, identifying these opportunities is sometimes the easy part. You’ll have to find a technology acquisition path that is win/win. Even once you’ve secured access, getting an “outside” technology integrated into your company can be just as hard or harder.
We can help you with the fundamental technology searches with valuation tools to aid in prioritization. We can help you identify and close those win/win access agreements. We also can help with the hard cultural issues involved in technology internalization.
If you’d like to have a better view of the technology landscape and assure that you are in a position to use the best technologies available, contact us.
